Using The Library!

The Alleghany Highlands Regional Library offers a wide variety of services and resources to meet the information and recreational needs of the communities we serve.  When patrons walk through our doors, the dedicated and knowledgeable staff can assist with navigating collections or accessing computers.  The Library maintains a wide variety of materials for all interests, including local history, DVDs, periodicals, microfilm, fiction and non-fiction for all ages, and much much more!

At the Circulation Desk, patrons can find flyers for monthly events and seasonal reading programs, sign up for programs and classes, or obtain a library card.  Our friendly staff can help access online databases or give instructions for downloading eBooks from the OverDrive powered download consortium.

Two OPACs (Online Public Access Catalogs) are available within the library in lieu of the old card catalog.  Searching the Library's holdings has never been easier!  With just a few clicks, find out which books are available for checkout now or place holds.

Bring in laptops or other WiFi devices and enjoy our free wireless internet!  We have plenty of tables and chairs available for patrons to relax and enjoy the quiet atmosphere or spread out and get some work done.  Our casual reading area offers a small showing by a local artist, as well as a display case with a new and interesting collection each month.

Come in and check out something good!  We look forward to seeing you at the Library!
