l Library Board of Trustees

A 12-member Board of Trustees governs the Library and includes:

• (3) members appointed by the Alleghany County Board of Supervisors
• (3) members appointed by the Covington City Council
• (5) elected members at large representing citizens of the Library’s service area which includes Alleghany County and the City of Covington.
• (1) student representative of Alleghany High School

All members serve four-year terms.  A maximum of two (2) consecutive terms may be served, with a one (1) year break following the 2^nd term required before any member is allowed to serve again.

Board officers are elected for a one-year term and include Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Meetings

Meetings of the AHRL Board of Trustees are held the 2^nd Tuesday of each month at 4:45pm in the W.N. “John” Rice Community Room. “Citizen’s Time” has been incorporated into each meeting for public comment.
