Library Periodicals

The Charles P. Jones Memorial Library offers a large variety of periodicals available for reference and checkout.  We currently subscribe to over 100 periodicals.  The most current issue may not be checked out, but other issues can be checked out for a period of four weeks.  A few magazines do not circulate at all.  A complete list of current magazines and frequency of publication is available below.  Archives are available for many publications.  National Geographic Magazines are bound and never discarded.  Our archives of this resource date back to 1949 and are not available for circulation.

We currently subscribe to 7 different newspapers.  Most of these we receive daily (allowing time for the mail, in some cases we get them several days later than their publication date), and we receive others on a weekly basis.  We maintain archives of the local newspaper, The Virginian Review.  We have issues of this newspaper on microfilm back to January 1929.  We also maintain the Clifton Forge Daily Newspaper archives on microfilm, dating from January 1928 to December 1988.
